Kerry Wood is as fine a pitcher as they come. During his 12 years as a member of the Chicago Cubs his career was plagued by injuries. This didn’t stop him from throwing The Greatest Game Ever Pitched (on may 5 1998, 20-year-old rookie Wood struck out a baffling 20 Astros).
Tonight, Wood has thrown his last pitch, striking out David Viciedo on one of his signature nasty curveballs.
Enjoy your retirement, Kerry. You sure as hell deserve it.
